Why Pure Shilajit UK Is Your Go-To for Sustainable Wellness Supplements

Pure Shilajit UK takes pride in sustainable sourcing and eco-friendly packaging: an amber glass jar and card and cardboard outer packaging, which can all be recycled apart from the plastic lid. Our shilajit is harvested responsibly by hand from the Himalayas and sun dried, and we keep our environmental impact low at every step we control.

Choosing Pure Shilajit UK means not only looking after your own health, but also supporting ethical, environmentally friendly wellness practices.

"Sustainable" gets thrown around a lot in supplements, so this post explains what it actually means for us, step by step. Want to see the product first? Here's our Himalayan shilajit resin.

Why sustainability matters for shilajit

Shilajit isn't like most supplements. It can't be farmed, grown or made in a lab. It forms naturally over centuries as plant matter breaks down inside mountain rock, and it only forms in a handful of high mountain ranges. (We explain how in The Ancient Secrets of Shilajit.)

That makes it precious. What's on the mountain is what there is. So how it's collected, how it's processed and how it's sold really matter.

Responsible harvesting in the Himalayas

Our shilajit is harvested responsibly from the Nepal Himalayas, above 16,000ft.

It's collected by hand in the warmer months, when the sun softens the resin and it seeps out of cracks in the rock. It's done by people who know the mountains, collecting what the rock gives up each season.

The full journey from cliff face to your door is in The Journey of Shilajit: From Himalayas to Your Home.

Sun dried, the traditional way

Raw shilajit has to be cleaned and dried before it's ready to use. Some producers use direct heat to speed this up. Ours is sun dried. It's slower, but it uses the heat of the sun rather than extra fuel, and it's the gentle, traditional way described in Ayurvedic texts. More on that in Shilajit and Ayurvedic Medicine.

Eco-friendly packaging: glass jars and cardboard

Here's exactly what your order comes in:

  • The jar: amber glass, rather than a plastic tub. The amber tint keeps out light.
  • The lid: plastic.
  • Everything else: all the outer packaging is card or cardboard.

The glass jar and all the cardboard packaging can be recycled. Glass and cardboard are both collected by most UK councils as part of household recycling.

How to recycle your order

  1. The box and card: flatten them and put them in your paper and card recycling.
  2. The jar: when it's empty, soak it in hot water for a few minutes to loosen any resin left on the sides, give it a rinse, then put it in your glass recycling.
  3. The lid: it's plastic, so check your local council's rules for plastic lids.

Or keep the jar. Clean amber jars are handy for spices, seeds or anything else you want to keep out of the light.

Nothing added, nothing wasted

Our resin is pure shilajit. No fillers, no bulking agents, no extra ingredients to grow, process and ship.

And because shilajit is taken in such small amounts, a little goes a long way. A 30g jar holds about 60 pea-sized servings, roughly two months at one a day. That's two months of supplement in one small glass jar. See How Long Does a Jar of Shilajit Resin Last?

Buying a bundle means fewer orders and fewer deliveries over the year.

Honesty is part of sustainability

Being ethical isn't just about the environment. It's also about being straight with the people who buy from you.

Every batch of our resin is tested by Huson and Hardwick (Alex Stewart Agriculture), an ISO 17025 accredited lab in Liverpool, and we publish the results. Our February 2026 batch came back at 73.8% fulvic acid and 88.5% total humic substances, with heavy metals within limits and no E. coli, salmonella or pesticides detected. See the Lab Results page or the full certificate (PDF).

Not every seller does that. If you're comparing, How to Spot Fake Shilajit has 7 checks to run first.

A small, family-run UK brand

We've been doing this since 2020 and have sent out over 50,000 jars. We're still a small, family-run operation, and we post from the UK. Delivery is free on UK orders over £20.

Why resin is the sustainable choice

Resin is the purest, most concentrated form of shilajit. There's no capsule shell, no gummy base and no fillers, just shilajit in a glass jar. Capsules have their place for travel, but for everyday use resin comes first. More in Shilajit Resin vs Capsules: Which Should You Buy?
